ROCC for Women provides personalised, holistic support services to women experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Shoalhaven region of NSW.
Since 1983, this specialist long-term service for adult women has provided consistent, respectful, essential support to women, for as long as they need and want that support.
Family and domestic violence is described as a leading cause of homelessness for women, and providing support for survivors is complex.
Additionally, challenges often intersect for women - layers including family/domestic violence, family breakdown, socio-economic disadvantage and social isolation, trauma and other medical and mental health challenges are not uncommon.
Survivors often struggle to overcome barriers to initially seeking support including social isolation, stigma, distrust, and trauma impacts.
ROCC facilitates group programs to build confidence, life skills, wellbeing, education and social connections, to empower women to realise their dignity and wellbeing through long term case management and enablement.
Coolaroo Foundation is proud to help make a new ROCC for Women program possible.
The Peer-Led Women’s Support program combines long-term case management with group workshops, helping women build confidence, skills and connections.
At the heart of the program is the peer-support worker, a woman with lived experience who understands the journey. She walks alongside participants before, during and after each workshop, offering a familiar face, practical help, encouragement and continuity of care.
Workshops cover financial wellbeing, cooking healthy meals on a budget, healing and connection to Country, goal setting and job search skills, as well as wellbeing and self-care practices. Together, they create an ongoing, supportive process of growth.
With this new program, ROCC for Women aims to set women up to have hope with which to focus on new life goals.
“All the women and children of our world are so essential in making our communities happy and strong.
We are very proud to support this hardworking team to help women in situations of disadvantage to be the best they can be.”
Since 2025, Coolaroo Foundation has partnered with ROCC for Women to deliver trauma-informed education and wellbeing workshops for women in the Shoalhaven region who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or navigating complex disadvantage.
